Gaming smartphones seem to be the next thing, as far as smartphone OEMs are concerned. After the launch of Black Shark by Xiaomi and Red Magic by Nubia, Asus is prepping a device in the same genre. It will be launched under a new branding ROG (Republic of Gamers) in June this year.
However, nothing has confirmed from the Asus side, so it’s best to take all this info with a pinch of salt.
Smartphone manufacturers taking the gaming label isn’t surprising. PC arena already enjoys a massive share of gaming-oriented hardware, so why not smartphones.
According to reports, Asus will launch the gaming-oriented device at this year’s Computex in Taiwan (June 5-9). No information regarding the specs is available, but it won’t be hard to guess.
The smartphone shall feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with 8 Gigs of RAM. A high-refresh rate display for a buttery-smooth gaming experience should also find its place. Probably somewhere in the realm of 120 or even 144 Hz.
The pricing of the device will be crucial to its success as well as its features that will make it stand out. Do let us know what you think of recent gaming smartphone trends in the comments section below.
