OnePlus 6 has started making the rounds of rumor mills, and now, we have confirmed details about the unannounced smartphone. According to Carl Pei, the company’s Co-founder, OnePlus 6 will feature a notch on top. He also confirmed the presence of 3.5mm headphone jack.
OnePlus 6 with Notch and 3.5mm Jack
The latest revelations were disclosed in Carl Pei’s interview with Verge. He described the notch in a positive way, describing as “adding more screen real estate instead of taking anything away”. Pei went on to say that the notch will be implemented way better than his any other Android counterpart.
The notch on the OnePlus 6 will measure 19.62 x 7.69mm. It will be larger than Essential’s, but smaller than iPhone X implementation. But, then the X has a minified Kinect in there, which isn’t required according to Carl. It will stick to camera-based face recognition and fingerprint reader.
The handset will do away with the navigation buttons and feature gestures for the same. The Co-founder also confirmed the presence of 3.5mm headphone jack. It’s a good decision and the one you cannot argue.
Carl Pei also avoided mentioning the OPPO R15, which is reported to lay down hardware blueprint for the upcoming OnePlus handset. There’s still a lot of time left for the launch of OnePlus 6, so stick around for more such news in future.
