Alongside the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro launch, Huawei also unveiled the Porsche Design Mate RS. It’s an enhanced variant of the P20 Pro, and probably the best from Huawei till date.
Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS
The Mate RS from Huawei features a 6-Inch AMOLED QHD display with no notch (18:9). It gets even better with an under display fingerprint reader. Just hover your finger over the screen to wake the phone and touch the screen to unlock it. Before you ask, there’s a fingerprint reader on the back too.
The display curves on each side, making it the first curved AMOLED display smartphone from Huawei. Until now Samsung had the hold in this department. It’s designed in partnership with Porsche and built with metal and glass. It will come in the traditional black, along with a Red option, which is unfortunately exclusive to China.
On to the camera department, the Mate RS gets the same 40MP + 8MP + 20MP triple camera of the P20 Pro. There’s 5x hybrid zoom, 960fps video, AI features and all. However, the trio is shifted to the middle on this one.
Coming to the internals, the Porsche Design Mate RS is powered by Kirin 970 chipset with 6 Gigs of RAM. It doubles in the storage department compared to its sibling – you get the 256 GB and 512 GB variants here.
Rest of the specs sheet is similar to P20 Pro. You have a 4,000mAh battery with SuperCharge, wireless charging, stereo speakers and so on.
If you liked what you say, then get ready to shell out €1,695 for the basic 256 Gigabyte model, double the P20 Pro price. Whereas for the 512 GB variant, you need to dig deeper for a whopping €2,095. The Mate RS goes on sale starting April 12.
