In a bid to attract new and keep existing users intact, BSNL has launched a new prepaid tariff plan for Rs. 448. Under the special STV (Special Talk Value) recharge, BSNL users can avail 100 SMS/day, unlimited calling and 1 GB data/day for a period of 84 days. This plan is available across all BSNL service provided states.
The new Rs. 448 plan from BSNL directly competes with Reliance Jio’s Rs 449 pack, which offers 1.5GB daily data, unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS messages per day with a validity of 91 days. Airtel too has a similar plan of Rs. 448 which offers 1.4GB data per day, unlimited calling, 100 SMS messages per day; all this for a period of 82 days.
Just a few days back, BSNL introduced the recharge pack of Rs. 999, which offers unlimited calls for 181 days and 1GB data per day for a period of 365 days. However, that plan is not applicable to all circles which include Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, and North East India.
Right now, BSNL is offering 3G services in most service areas, with 4G rollout happening by end of this year as part of the new Rs. 25,000 crore investment. BSNL has already started 4G services in parts of Kerala. BSNL has requested government for the 5 MHz slot of 3G or spectrum in 2100 MHz band for deploying 4G services through equity investment route in the company.
